The frame of this Karup futon bed Kanso is made of solid pine and is available for the mattress sizes 90/120/140/160 and 180x200cm, and includes a solid wooden slatted base. This slatted base is suitable for any type of mattress but is best used with a matching japanese futon mattress. This mattress has a cushioning and is covered with a 100% cotton ticking, There is a choice of different filling types and hardnesses for the futon mattress.

The Kanso uses traditional intersecting planes to enhance the minimalist feel. Simplicity refers to the Japanese term 'Kanso', in this design all unnecessary parts have been removed so that each part serves as part of the structure and as an expression. The bed offers structural strength and a slightly horizontal feel giving it great ground clearance with plenty of room for the Kanso storage drawers, which match the bed perfectly.
