At SASA Store, you will find indoor daybeds from two Danish brands. Karup Design makes daybeds from solid FSC pine with a futon mattress, for one person (80 or 90×200 cm) or two (140×200 cm). Softline makes daybeds with steel or ash wood legs and a foam mattress with optional pocket springs, which extends into a double bed of 160 or 180×200 cm. What is a daybed?
A daybed is a bed at sitting height designed like a sofa: a low frame, a real mattress that always lies flat, and a backrest or loose cushions against the wall. During the day, it is your reading nook or lounge spot; in the evening, you pull up a cushion and lie on a mattress instead of a seat. With a single daybed, nothing changes; in the evening, you extend Softline's double daybeds in a single movement to a width of 160 or 180 cm. The difference with a sofa bed is that a daybed has no folding mechanism and no seam in the middle. This makes it the simplest extra sleeping place for a living room, home office, or guest room.

Karup Design Next and Pace: single daybed with futon
De Next and the Peace Their daybeds are 80×200 cm on a solid FSC pine frame, 40 cm high. The mattress is a futon: layers of recycled cotton surrounding a 4 cm foam core, held in place by buttons and finished with an 80% cotton cover. The Next features ribbed fabric in five colors, a round neck pillow, and a frame in natural or black; the Pace has classic round legs, a frame in natural or carob brown, and a mattress in a wide range of fabric colors. Karup Design Senza: 90×200 with a 25 cm futon
De Without stands on slanted wooden legs and has the thickest mattress of our daybeds: 25 cm, with a 10 cm foam core and layers of recycled cotton. Seat height 38 cm, load capacity 250 kg, four cushions included. Place the stool Senza with that, you have a corner sofa or an extended chaise longue; two Senzas together form a corner configuration.
Karup Design Social: double daybed 140×200
De Socials It is a low platform made of solid pine (204×148 cm) with a slatted base and a 140×200 cm futon mattress, 15 cm thick, in beige or mocha. You can place the four separate backrests and the side table anywhere on the frame you want: as a sofa against the wall, as a lounge island in the middle of the room, or completely tucked away at night.
Softline Duet, Frame and Lubi: daybed that extends to 160×200
By day, a slim sofa 203 cm long and 82 to 86 cm deep with a seat height of 44 cm; at night, a double bed of 160×200 cm. The Duet stands on steel legs, the Frame on legs of solid FSC ash, the harpy It features classic lines and a removable cover on the top mattress. All three have an SG30 foam mattress that can be upgraded with pocket springs. You can choose from three fabric groups (eco cotton, coarse weave, and wool) in a wide range of colors; fabric samples are free.
Softline Shine and Sleep: 180 cm wide, for daily use
De Shine and the Sleep They feature a seat with Nosag springs under the SG30 mattress and are made for sleeping on every night. As a sofa, they are 201 to 204 cm long and 87 to 90 cm deep; as a bed, they are 180×200 cm. The Shine comes with a separate cushion, while the Sleep has a three-position backrest, a black frame, and won a Danish design competition in 2019. All double models are grouped together under Daybed for 2 people.
What should you look for in a daybed?
- One or two people: 80 or 90 cm wide for one person (Next, Pace, Senza), 140 cm for two on a fixed platform (Social), 160 or 180 cm extended (Softline).
- Matrass: a futon lies firm and flat (Karup, 11 to 25 cm thick); SG30 foam with pocket springs is more resilient (Softline); Nosag springs plus foam is made for daily use (Shine, Sleep).
- Against the wall or freestanding: the Social and the Senza with ottoman can be placed in the middle of the room; Next, Pace, and the Softline daybeds look best against a wall with cushions as backrests.
- Space: count on a length of 200 to 204 cm; as a bench 75 to 90 cm deep, extended 160 or 180 cm.
- Dust and maintenanceKarup covers are 80% cotton; with Softline, you choose from eco cotton, coarse weave, and wool, and with the Lubi, the cover of the top mattress is removable.
