A . TIMELESS . PIECE

A timeless sofa bed. Roots 140 is the essence of the Karup Design DNA: you not only get a 2-seater sofa but also a double bed with the option of reclining the backrest for lounging. The Roots transforms quickly and easily - just like magic. Do you get the idea?

ECO . FRIENDLY . UNIQUE

The knots in the natural wooden frame make the sofa unique, so no piece of furniture is the same. In addition, the wooden frames are produced sustainably and come from wood FSC ® certified forests.

The futon mattress is filled with recycled cotton from the textile industry which has been tested according to TÜV, which means that quality and environmental standards are met. In addition, this piece of furniture is packaged as efficiently as possible to limit CO2 emissions and residual waste.

Dark wood, a low profile, and three positions: the Karup design sofa bed Roots 140 carob brown is the same sofa as the Roots 140 natural, but with a solid pine frame lacquered in carob brown. The dark frame gives the sofa more substance in the room and complements oak or walnut flooring, black steel, and fabrics in sand, olive, or bordeaux.

As a sofa, it is 140 cm wide; as a bed, 140×200 cm. In between is the lounge position, with the backrest lowered. You switch manually, without tools or loose parts.

Three positions, one mattress

Backrest up: two-seater sofa with a seat height of 47 cm. Backrest down: lounge sofa for stretching out. Mattress unfolded: double bed at a height of 20 cm. The 12 cm futon mattress accommodates all three positions, so there is nothing to store.

Sizes of the Roots 140 carob brown

  • Sofa: 140 cm wide, 105 cm deep, 85 cm high
  • Seat height 47 cm, seat depth 63 cm, backrest 55 cm
  • Bed: 140×200 cm, bed height 20 cm
  • Mattress 12 cm thick
  • Load capacity 250 kg
  • Frame: solid pine, lacquered in carob brown

For a wider bed, there is the Roots 160 carob brown, the sleeping chair for one person Roots 90 carob brown. The overview of all sizes and colors is below Karup Design Roots.

Choosing fabric for a dark frame

The mattress is 12 cm thick, filled with recycled cotton fiber around a 4 cm foam core. The standard fabric is 80% cotton and 20% polyester. With carob brown, light fabrics such as beige, linen, and wheat work best for contrast, while dark shades like anthracite or burgundy create a calm overall look. Ask free fabric samples to be sure.

Also in natural and black

Prefer light wood? Then there is the Roots 140 natural. Tighter and darker is the Roots 140 blackThe sizes and the mattress are the same for all three.
