The Karup Merge 90×200 cm futon bed is the single size of the Merge, a floating platform bed made of solid pine with a bench at the foot end. The frame is 94 cm wide and 227 cm long: 27 cm longer than the mattress, because at the foot end the frame extends into a 22,5 cm deep bench with open storage compartments underneath. The top of the frame sits at 32,5 cm, on 10 cm legs that are set inwards.

For a teen or student room, that is exactly what you are looking for: a bed where books, a laptop, and the day's essentials have a place without an extra cabinet. The bench at the foot of the bed serves as a seat while getting dressed and a shelf for the book of the week. The Merge was designed by Says Who, the Danish agency that also designed the Ziggy and the Social for Karup Design.

What you buy

The frame is made of solid pine in a natural finish, FSC Mix certified, with the wooden slatted base and assembly instructions included. A 90×200 cm mattress is ordered separately: a Karup futon from the selection list or your own mattress. Instead of the slatted base, you can choose one 90×200 cm tatami mat made of rice straw with a top layer of rush grass.

At 32,5 cm, the Merge is higher than the other low beds from Karup, such as the Japan (20 cm) and the Dock (11 cm). Roomier for one person: the Merge 120×200 cm. The smallest double bed is the Merge 140×200 cm. The mat for this size: tatami mat 90×200 cm.

Choose a futon

When configuring, you choose a Karup futon, or you order the bed without a futon and use your own mattress. The futons are constructed from layers of cotton around a core:

  • Traditional: coreless cotton, approximately 13 cm
  • Comfort: cotton with a 4 cm foam core, approximately 15 cm
  • Coconut: cotton with a 3 cm coconut board core, approximately 16 cm
  • Sandwich: cotton with a core of 4 cm latex foam and 3 cm coconut board, approximately 16 cm
  • Double latex: cotton with an 8 cm latex foam core, approximately 18 cm
  • Triple latex: cotton and wool with a core of 6 cm latex foam and 2 cm horsehair, approximately 20 cm

Organic futon

The Karup futons are made of recycled cotton, eco-friendly but not organically certified. Those who want a fully organically produced mattress, without chemicals and pesticides, with certificates and quality marks and a more luxurious finish, choose the organic futon mattress Traditional 90×200 cm and orders the bed without a futon.

Delivery is free. Our showroom in Bergen op Zoom houses the largest Karup Design collection in the Benelux, so you can compare the Merge with other Karup beds.

Returns

Oops, not completely happy with your order? Don't worry, you have up to 30 days after receipt to return the item! And we make it easy for you, we simply schedule a pick-up appointment for you. Please note: we charge €39,99 for returning this product. But if you prefer to return it or send it in yourself, it will of course not cost you anything extra. However, a few conditions apply:
