The Karup Retreat futon bed carob 160×200 cm is a double bed with a headboard in carob brown lacquered pine, 166 cm wide and 226 cm long. The bed is 93 cm high at the head end. The 61 cm headboard serves as a bedside table: open shelves 20 cm deep with a cable pass-through behind each shelf, for a lamp, a book, or a phone on the charger.
Carob brown is a dark, warm shade in which the wood grain shows through. Combined with the rounded corners of the frame and headboard, this creates a bed that looks sturdy without appearing heavy. The Retreat is positioned with the headboard against the wall. It is a design by Says Who, the Danish agency behind more Karup beds.

You receive the solid pine frame with FSC Mix certificate, lacquered in carob brown, the wooden slatted base, and the assembly instructions. You choose a 160×200 cm mattress separately: a Karup futon from the list below or a mattress you already have. In clear lacquered pine, this bed is called Retreat Natural.

Choose a futon
You can choose a Karup futon directly with the bed, or take the bed without a futon and use your own mattress. Each futon is constructed from layers of cotton around a core:
- Traditional: coreless cotton, approximately 13 cm
- Comfort: cotton with a 4 cm foam core, approximately 15 cm
- Coconut: cotton with a 3 cm coconut board core, approximately 16 cm
- Sandwich: cotton with a core of 4 cm latex foam and 3 cm coconut board, approximately 16 cm
- Double latex: cotton with an 8 cm latex foam core, approximately 18 cm
- Triple latex: cotton and wool with a core of 6 cm latex foam and 2 cm horsehair, approximately 20 cm

Organic futon
Karup's futons are made from recycled cotton: eco-friendly, but without organic certification. If you opt for a fully organically produced mattress, free from chemicals and pesticides, with certificates and quality marks, and a more luxurious finish, order the bed without a futon and choose the organic futon mattress Traditional 160×200 cm.
