The Karup Social futon bed in carob brown 140×200 cm combines the low, floating frame of the Social with a dark brown lacquer. Carob brown is a deep, warm brown shade in which the grain of the pine remains visible. The bed is 148 cm wide and 204 cm long; the top of the frame sits at 23 cm, and the 10 cm legs are angled inwards, out of sight.

In a small room, a dark bed acts as a focal point: light walls, light textiles, and this frame as the only dark surface. During the day, you position the backrests from the optional set along the long side and use it as a sofa with a small table next to it; in the evening, you slide them to the headboard. The design is by the Danish agency Says Who.

What you buy

The frame is made of solid pine with steel connections, is FSC Mix certified, and is painted in carob brown. The wooden slatted base and assembly instructions are included. A 140×200 cm mattress must be ordered separately: a Karup futon from the selection list or your own mattress. The set with two backrests measuring 50 x 30 cm (11 cm deep) and two tables measuring 35 x 25 cm is an option during configuration. The backrests and tables can be placed anywhere on the frame, all around.

Choose a futon

When configuring, you choose a Karup futon, or you order the bed without a futon and use your own mattress. The futons are constructed from layers of cotton around a core:

  • Traditional: coreless cotton, approximately 13 cm
  • Comfort: cotton with a 4 cm foam core, approximately 15 cm
  • Coconut: cotton with a 3 cm coconut board core, approximately 16 cm
  • Sandwich: cotton with a core of 4 cm latex foam and 3 cm coconut board, approximately 16 cm
  • Double latex: cotton with an 8 cm latex foam core, approximately 18 cm
  • Triple latex: cotton and wool with a core of 6 cm latex foam and 2 cm horsehair, approximately 20 cm

Organic futon

The Karup futons are made of recycled cotton, eco-friendly but not organically certified. Those who want a fully organically produced mattress, without chemicals and pesticides, with certificates and quality marks and a more luxurious finish, choose the organic futon mattress Traditional 140×200 cm and orders the bed without a futon.
