The Karup futon bed Japan blue 160×200 cm is the low Japan in Vivid Blue: 188 cm wide, 228 cm long, 20 cm high, made of solid wood on eight legs. The 160 is the size most people choose, and in bright blue, it is a bed you won't easily find anywhere else.
Blue and wood go well together. A floor or cabinet in light wood, white walls, and bedding in white or sand beautifully frame the look. Those who prefer a calmer look can choose a futon with a light cover and keep the rest of the room neutral.
That is how Japan is built
The frame is made of solid wood from FSC-certified Scandinavian forests, lacquered in Vivid Blue by Karup Design. Eight short legs support a rectangular frame containing the solid wood slatted base. The base and assembly instructions are included in the delivery. For a tatami surface, select two 80×200 cm mats made of rice straw with a rush grass top layer when configuring.

The futon
You choose a Karup futon when configuring, or you order the bed without a futon for your own mattress:
- Traditional: coreless cotton, approximately 13 cm
- Comfort: cotton with a 4 cm foam core, approximately 15 cm
- Coconut: cotton with a 3 cm coconut board core, approximately 16 cm
- Sandwich: cotton with a core of 4 cm latex foam and 3 cm coconut board, approximately 16 cm
- Double latex: cotton with an 8 cm latex foam core, approximately 18 cm
- Triple latex: cotton and wool with a core of 6 cm latex foam and 2 cm horsehair, approximately 20 cm
