The Karup Japan Terra futon bed 180×200 cm is the largest size of the Japan in the color Terra: 208 cm wide, 228 cm long, 20 cm high. A wide bed in a warm earth tone calls for a spacious bedroom, preferably with daylight, as this allows the lacquer to show off its best features and ensures that the bed, despite its width, remains low and calm in the room.
The color complements natural materials: a wool blanket, linen bedding, a wicker basket, a tatami mat on the floor. Next to the bed, the Japanese nightstands from the same series in natural or carob brown match. They are not available in Terra, and it is precisely that contrast that works well.
Wide and yet low
Karup Design creates the Japan from solid wood sourced from FSC-certified Scandinavian forests. The frame is a base on eight legs, ensuring the slatted base is supported across its entire width of 208 cm. The solid wood slatted base and assembly instructions are included in the delivery. Prefer a traditional surface? Then place two 90×200 cm tatami mats inside the frame, with a rice straw core and a rush grass top layer.
