The Karup futon bed Japan Sage 140×200 cm is the Japan in Sage green, a muted grey-green that remains calm next to wood, white, and sand. With a width of 168 cm, a length of 228 cm, and a height of 20 cm, it is the compact double size in the series: a bed for a smaller bedroom, or a spacious bed for those who sleep alone.
Green on a low frame works differently than green on a wall: the bed lies as a plane in the room and the color stands out without being loud. Combine it with natural or white linen, a wooden nightstand, and a plant, and the bedroom naturally takes on a calming atmosphere.
Lacquered solid wood on eight legs
Karup Design makes the Japan from solid wood sourced from FSC-certified Scandinavian forests and finishes the frame in Sage Green. Eight legs support an open frame containing the solid wood slatted base, which is included as standard, as is the assembly manual. If you prefer the traditional Japanese surface, select two 70×200 cm tatami mats during the configuration process, featuring a rice straw core and a rush grass top layer.

Choosing a futon at 140 cm
When configuring, you choose one of the six Karup futons, or you order the bed without a futon and place your own 140×200 cm mattress on it:
- Traditional: coreless cotton, approximately 13 cm
- Comfort: cotton with a 4 cm foam core, approximately 15 cm
- Coconut: cotton with a 3 cm coconut board core, approximately 16 cm
- Sandwich: cotton with a core of 4 cm latex foam and 3 cm coconut board, approximately 16 cm
- Double latex: cotton with an 8 cm latex foam core, approximately 18 cm
- Triple latex: cotton and wool with a core of 6 cm latex foam and 2 cm horsehair, approximately 20 cm

The Karup futons are made of recycled cotton, eco-friendly but not organically certified.
