The Karup Japan black futon bed 180×200 cm is the widest Japan in black: 208 cm from outside to outside, 228 cm long, 20 cm high. A two-meter-wide black expanse on the floor is a statement, and because the bed is so low, it remains a calm statement. Two sleepers each have 90 cm, just as much as on a single bed.
Black calls for a counterweight: light walls, a wooden or light floor, bedding in white or sand. A tatami mat next to it or as a bed base sets the light straw against the dark wood, and that is exactly the Japanese combination after which this bed is named.
Broad, low, black
Karup Design constructs the Japan from solid wood sourced from FSC-certified Scandinavian forests and finishes the frame black. Eight legs support the frame, ensuring the slatted base remains stable in the center, even at a width of 208 cm. The solid wood slatted base and assembly instructions are included in the delivery. Two 90×200 cm tatami mats fit into the frame as a traditional bed base.
